Diesel generator sets contain three types of wear parts: air filter, oil filter, and fuel filter. To extend the service life of the generator set, it is essential to maintain these three filters during use to ensure they function optimally. When installing the air filter, ensure that all sealing gaskets and rubber connecting pipes are installed correctly, without omissions, reverse installation, or incorrect installation, and guarantee the tightness of all fittings. For paper dust cup air filters, clean the dust every 50-100 hours of operation using a soft brush. Replace the filter immediately if it has been in use for more than 500 hours or is damaged. When using an oil bath air filter, clean the filter element with clean diesel fuel and change the engine oil every 100-200 hours of operation. If the filter element is broken, replace it immediately. Always add engine oil as specified during use.
All fuel filters in the fuel supply system should be cleaned of impurities every 100-200 hours of operation, and the fuel tank and all fuel lines should be thoroughly cleaned. Pay special attention when cleaning filters and seals; replace any damaged parts immediately. During seasonal oil changes, all components of the entire fuel supply system should be cleaned. The diesel fuel used should meet seasonal requirements and undergo a 48-hour sedimentation and purification process.
If the oil filter is not maintained regularly during diesel generator set operation, filter blockage, increased oil pressure, and the opening of the safety valve will allow lubricating oil to flow directly into the main oil passage, accelerating wear on lubricated surfaces and affecting the service life of the diesel generator set. Therefore, the oil filter should be cleaned every 180-200 hours of operation. If damage is found, it should be replaced immediately to prevent impurities from entering the lubrication surfaces. When changing the seasons for diesel generator sets, the crankcase and all lubrication surfaces should also be cleaned. The method is to use a mixture of engine oil, kerosene, and diesel fuel as a cleaning oil. After draining the engine oil, add the cleaning oil to clean the generator. Then, run the diesel generator at low speed for 3-5 minutes, drain the cleaning oil completely, and add new engine oil.
